GO:0007294	Definition	Process involved in cell fate commitment. One of the cells of the insect female cyst will become committed to develop into an oocyte; the remaining 15 cells become nurse cells. Once determination has taken place, a cell becomes committed to differentiate into an oocyte.
		Process by which a cell becomes capable of differentiating autonomously into an oocyte cell regardless of its environment; upon determination, the cell fate cannot be reversed. As in, but not restricted to, the true insects (Insecta, ncbi_taxonomy_id:50557).
