GO:0016924	Definition	OBSOLETE. The repair of a double strand break by breakage of two homologous duplex DNA molecules and strand exchange. Joining of the free ends is mediated by a DNA-protein kinase in a process that also protects the ends from nucleolytic attack. The free ends of the DNA then undergo ligation.
