Remark Phenotype comment -- Confirmed with independent dsRNA (C30C11.2-RNA2; similar phenotype).
DIC phenotype -- In most embryos (e.g. movie1), the male and female pronuclei never become visible, and everything seems to be arrested. Some embryos progressed to the one cell stage (e.g. movie2): in these cases, there is a sriking delay during mitosis (over 20 min between breakdown of the pronuclear envelopes and cleavage furrow ingression, compared to the usual approximately 2 min in wild-type); earlier events in the one cell stage may be slow as well.
DIC phenotype comment -- Staining of fixed embryos with DNA dye shows that fertilization took place, and suggests that at least half of the embryos are arrested during meiotic divisions.
