Description  The fog-2 gene encodes a novel protein, with an N-terminal F-box and a C-terminal FTH domain, that is required for hermaphrodite spermatogenesis; FOG-2 interacts with the RNA-binding protein GLD-1 and the tra-2 3' untranslated region to translationally repress tra-2 expression in the hermaphrodite germ line and thus allow for a brief period of spermatogenesis.
