gei-16 can encode a protein with similarity to the B20 antigen of the parasitic nematode Onchocerca volvulus; GEI-16 is required for ventral enclosure and elongation during embryonic development, larval development, and normal rates of postembryonic growth; GEI-16 interacts with GEX-3, a homolog of mammalian protein ligands of the small GTPase Rac1 that is also essential for embryonic morphogenesis. |
