Gene Inhibited |
Y47G6A.23 (lpd-3) |
Description of "Y47G6A.23" |
lpd-3 encodes a novel protein that is nevertheless conserved amongst humans, mice, and Drosophila; in C. elegans, LPD-3 activity is required for normal lipid metabolism, as animals that have reduced lpd-3 activity as a result of RNA-mediated gene interference (RNAi) lack lipid storage granules in the intestine and are paler and skinnier than wild-type animals; lpd-3 is expressed prominently in the intestine, the major site of fat storage. |
