Description of "Y48A6A.1"  zig-5 encodes a predicted membrane-associated protein containing two C2-type immunoglobulin domains and a GPI (glycosylated phosphatidylinositol) anchor site, but no transmembrane domain; ZIG-5 is predicted to function in cell adhesion and/or signaling, and appears to be required for embryogenesis as well as maintenance of ventral nerve cord organization during larval stages; ZIG-5 is expressed in several different neurons and is detected in the PVT guidepost neuron beginning at the three-fold stage of embryogenesis and continuing throughout larval development.
